Tan Ky Ancient House is the first ancient house to be honored as a National Heritage. It is considered a “living museum” that retains almost intact the typical architecture of ancient Hoi An ancient houses.

As you may know, Tan Ky ancient house has a long history and is the home of 7 generations of the Le family. Undoubtly, this most beautiful ancient house in Hoi An is the hottest check-in place in Hoi An. It always attracts thousands of tourists to admire the architecture, culture and listen to impressive presentations about the ancient house.

The old house was built in 1741, at the end of the 18th century. specifically, this is where the Le family lived for 7 generations. From the second generation, the homeowner began to take the name Tan Ky for the house, expanding trade and agricultural products. In 1990, Tan Ky ancient house was honored to be awarded the title of National Historical and Cultural Monument. It is also recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage. However, this is still a private ancient house, the homeowner still lives on the top floor, the lower floor is open to visitors.

The house has the quintessential interference architecture of 3 cultures: China – Japan – Vietnam, including 2 floors and 3 rooms. Firstly, the living room of the house has bold Japanese architecture, built according to Feng Shui Metal – Wood – Water – Fire – Earth. Additionally, the house is built in the typical tubular style of Hoi An ancient town, with many compartments and separate rooms inside. 

Admiring the decorative materials in the ancient house of Tan Ky, we can see that each object is exquisitely carved, containing many meanings. For example, the bat means happiness, the mailbox symbolizes successful studies, and the Pomegranate symbolizes the fortune of many children.

Cu Lao Cham island cluster consists of 1 main island and 8 small surrounding islands. This is an island with an area of about 15 km 2, located in Hoi An city, Quang Nam province.
